GreenThumb Compost and Farm Apprenticeship Program with Earth Matter

GreenThumb gardeners, if your garden’s compost system need a boost, apply for the Compost and Farm Apprenticeship Program with Earth Matter, in partnership with NYC Parks GreenThumb

We are sponsoring 10 community gardeners to participate in Earth Matter’s adult apprenticeship program at Governors Island. With a main focus on building sustainable compost operations, this training will also include growing vegetables and public engagement. Gardeners will learn how to make “Gold Standard” compost in a variety of urban environments at different scales with the goal of utilizing best practices for the improvement of soil and plant health. This training will be outdoors, in-person, and will follow CDC COVID-19 guidance

  • Who is eligible? This training is reserved for members of registered GreenThumb community gardens in good standing.
  • Training dates: 10 full-day Friday sessions from Friday, March 11 to Friday, May 20 (excluding April 15). Participants will gather at the ferry terminal at 8:45 a.m. to board the 9:00 a.m. ferry.

Programa de Aprendizaje de Abono y Granjas con Earth Matter

¿Necesita apoyo con el sistema de compostaje de su jardín? NYC Parks GreenThumb está patrocinando a 10 jardineros comunitarios para que participen en el programa de aprendizaje para adultos de Earth Matter en Governors Island. Con un enfoque principal en la construcción de operaciones de compostaje sostenibles, este entrenamiento también incluirá el cultivo de verduras y la participación con el público.
