GreenThumb's 41st Annual Virtual Harvest Fair

Sign up here to tune into this year’s virtual GreenThumb Harvest Fair on Saturday, September 26th from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for a day filled with workshops, a virtual tabling with our greening partners, and the announcement of this year’s winning harvest from a GreenThumb community garden. 

Harvest Fair Schedule:
10:00 a.m.:
Welcome from Bill LoSasso, Director of NYC Parks GreenThumb

10:05 a.m.-10:15 a.m.: The winning flower entries in the Harvest Fair Competition will be announced.

10:15 a.m.-10:55 a.m.: Exploring Food Sovereignty Through Deep Water Culture
Happy Healthy Latina will demonstrate the ancestral practice and tradition of deep water culture and hydroponics. 

10:55 a.m.-11:25 a.m.: Flower Arrangement Demonstration
Babbie Dunnington, GreenThumb Project & Design Coordinator will demonstrate basic tips and tricks to shape and build a flower arrangement with flowers from First Quincy Street Community Garden.

11:25 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Introduction to Capoeira
Brandon Ruiz (Instructor Cutia) will teach the basic movements of Capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian martial art.

12:00 p.m.-12:30 p.m.: Greening Partners Virtual Tabling
Learn more about GrowNYC, Partnerships for Parks, and Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

12:30 p.m.-12:35 p.m.: The winning vegetable entries in the Harvest Fair Competition will be announced.

12:35 p.m.-1:05 p.m.: Learn How to Make Pizza from Scratch
Maya Marie, an urban farmer/chef/educator, will teach you how to make pizza from scratch using farm-fresh veggies in this step-by-step demo.
