Due to the City's cancellation of public events through June, and to ensure the health and safety of the public and our partners, GreenThumb's Open Garden Day NYC has been rescheduled to Sunday, August 1st from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (rain or shine).
This year marks the third year when community gardens across the city open their gates on the same date and time to host free events and programming for the public. Last year, over 100 gardens participated, with activities such as making medicinal herbal products, holding a yoga class, learning about gardening, and hosting musical performances.
GreenThumb garden groups who would like to participate in Open Garden Day NYC by hosting a free activity or event for the public to enjoy on August 1st from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. can sign up by completing the form here by Friday, June 19, 2020.
Activities can include arts and crafts, music performances, composting, planting, a food demonstration, or feel free to suggest your own activity. Participating gardens will receive support from NYC Parks GreenThumb with marketing and publicity.
