Wednesday, October 14, 2020
5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
Join GreenThumb for our two-part workshop series on oral history and community archiving.
Please RSVP to receive the link to join the webinar.
Community gardeners have shaped the history of New York City and it is critical that we preserve their experiences and legacies. Part I will focus on the importance of preserving the stories of our community gardeners. We'll share best practices and guidelines for recording oral histories. We will highlight the projects that GreenThumb has worked on in the past and review the work of other collectives. Participants will learn the nuts and bolts of conducting an oral history interview followed by a brief overview of proper archival methods. Participants will be asked to develop a project for Part 2 of this workshop series and be given an opportunity to brainstorm during this session.
